โฐ The short version
๐ฆ What we store on our server
- Account identifiers: an anonymous ID from Sign in with Apple, plus the username and optional display name you choose. When you change your username, the old one is kept for 30 days so nobody else can take it and people who use it still reach you.
- Time zone: your device's time zone, so a friend setting your wake-up sees it in your local time.
- Device token and app version: your push token, used only to deliver ClockU notifications, and the app version, used to tell you when an update is required.
- Permissions: who may set your alarms, whose alarms you may set, and whether each person's wake-ups ring automatically or need your approval. Also any nicknames you give people (only you see them).
- Wake-ups: for each wake-up someone sets for you or you set for someone, the time, the message, its status (asked, accepted, declined, set to ring on your phone, woke up, or no response) and any reply you picked after waking (such as "On my way"). Deleted automatically 7 days after the wake-up time.
- Repeating wake-ups: for a wake-up that repeats, its time, days, time zone, message and who it wakes, kept until it's stopped and deleted 7 days after that.
- Reports: if you report someone, the report and its reason.
- Error logs: when a request to our server fails, we log when it happened, which part of the service it was, the error, your app version and your internal account ID. Never wake-up messages or anything else you write. These logs are kept by Cloudflare for up to 7 days and used only to find and fix problems.
๐ฑ What stays on your device
- Alarms you set for yourself, with their times, repeat days and labels.
- How your alarms ring: sound, snooze length and display settings.
๐ค Android waiting list
If you leave your email on our website to hear about ClockU for Android, we store that email, when you added it, and whether you signed up from an Android device. Nothing else: not your IP address or browser details. The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check for automated sign-ups. New sign-ups are sent to us in a daily summary email. We use your email only to write to you once when the Android version is available, and we delete the list after that. To be removed sooner, write to privacy@comnet.co.il.
๐ฌ Contact form
When you send a message through the contact form, it is emailed to us with your email address, the name and topic you entered, and, to help us answer, your IP address, browser, language and time zone. It is not stored on our servers; we keep the email only as long as needed to answer you. The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check for automated messages.
๐ ๏ธ Crash reports
If ClockU quits unexpectedly, the next time you open it, it asks whether to send a crash report. It is sent only if you agree, or if you chose "Always Send". A report contains the app's version and build, technical details of the crash (where in the app it happened), your device's model and iOS version, and the language, region format and time zone the app runs with. It contains no personal data, nothing that identifies you or your device, and nothing about your alarms, wake-ups or messages. Reports aren't linked to your account, are used only to fix the app, never for tracking, and are kept for up to 180 days.
๐ซ What we do not collect
- Location data.
- Contacts or address book access.
- Analytics or behavioural tracking.
- Advertising identifiers.
๐ Who can see what
A wake-up's message is visible to the person who set it and the person it's for. When you set a wake-up for someone, you can see whether they accepted it, whether it's set to ring on their phone, and whether they tapped "I'm up". The people who wake you can see the same about you.
Wake-up messages are not end-to-end encrypted. They are encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored on our servers so they can be shown in notifications and on the alarm screen. Don't put anything in a wake-up message that you wouldn't want stored on a server.
๐ Push notifications and alarms
ClockU uses Apple Push Notification service (APNs) to tell you when someone sets, changes or cancels a wake-up, and to tell the person who set it when you're up. Your device token is used only for this and is never shared with third parties.
Alarms ring through Apple's AlarmKit on your device. The wake-up is scheduled on your phone, so it still rings if you're offline.
๐ค Sign in with Apple
Authentication is handled entirely through Sign in with Apple. ClockU doesn't ask Apple for your name or email, so we receive only an opaque user identifier. We do not use any other authentication method.
๐ค Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or commercial purposes.
We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the safety of users (e.g. in response to a valid legal request).
Our infrastructure runs on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to data in transit and at rest on their platform: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
๐๏ธ Deleting your data
You can delete your account at any time from Settings โ Delete account. This permanently removes from our servers your account, permissions, nicknames, device tokens, and every wake-up you set or received. Error logs that mention your account expire on their own within 7 days. Crash reports aren't linked to your account and expire within 180 days.
Removing someone under People cancels their upcoming wake-ups on your clock. Your own alarms are removed when you delete them or the app.
๐ถ Children
ClockU is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
โ๏ธ Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
